If it's time for you to find a dog and you're ready for the responsibility, please consider adoption or rescue.  But  be warned -  it often happens when your dog is ready to find YOU.  =)

Chances are, there's a wonderful dog out there just waiting to call you his or her own.  The unconditional love and gratitude your new friend will bring you is leaps and bounds beyond the best things in life.

Many purebreds (and delightful mixed breeds) are passed over each year due to overbreeding and a lack of information.

Sadly, Craigslist and other advertising formats are RAMPANT with ads posted by puppymills who are cranking out litters as fast as they can.  This practice adds  to  overpopulation, and is often physically abusive to the mother dogs who are forced to have litter after litter till their bodies just can't take any more.
Read this eye-opening article  from Animal Rescue Corps.

In many cases, a puppy mill ad tells a deceptive story intended to tug at your heartstrings and sell you a dog. An inflated "re-homing" fee is requested rather than a sale price,
and they give little or no indication that the dog is actually from one of their own litters.  ("We're moving and we can't take poor little Fifi with us!!  Okay, that'll be $500, we can take PayPal or a check!") Days, weeks and months later, the same ad appears.  Every dog sold by these back yard breeders represents one less spot for a wonderful shelter dog who really needs a home.

In our nearby Wildomar, we have a very proactive shelter called Animal Friends of the Valleys.  It's refreshing to see the effort and energy put forth by this great organization.  Please check our Events Calendar for some wonderful, fun fundraisers which support this shelter and other dog rescue groups.

The Temecula Valley Woman's Club Animal Advocates Committee  supports Animal Friends of the Valleys, as well as Villa Chardonnay, a local horse rescue organization here in the Temecula/Murrieta area.

BUT IT'S JUST NOT ENOUGH. Your care and support can come from attending an event, fostering a dog, adopting a dog, volunteering at the shelter or at an event, or through financial contributions to meet the ongoing needs.
